| The executive officer is responsible to the commanding officer for the proper operation and administration of the unit and for such duties as may be delegated to him. The executive officer will assume command in the absence of the commanding officer. |

| Ensign Somers joined the Sea Cadets in September 2007. At the Boston Minutemen Division level Ensign. Somers held the billet of Training Officer until his appointment as Executive Officer on 20 April 2008. Ensign Somers has also gone on numerous field training exercise. He also attended Recruit training New England holding the position of Company Officer and photographer. |
| Ensign Somers holds a bachelors of science degree in marine safety and environmental protection from Massachusetts Maritime Academy.. He is employed by Veolia Environmental Services contracted at the Novartis building in Cambridge MA. He is also on Ladder Company 1 for the Rockport Fire Department. He runs his own photography business, and has become the division photographer. He currently resides in Rockport. |
