Ensign DiThomas joined the Sea Cadet Corps in 1989 as a cadet. After completing recruit
training New England in 1989 he attended Master-At-Arms, Petty Officer Leadership
Academy. He eventually rose to the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.

He took a short break from the naval sea cadets and the then Boston Division (now Boston
Minutemen Division) and returned in May 2006 as an instructor, holding the billet of
Executive Officer. Due to his film career picking up in late April 2008 he stepped down as
Executive Officer to Operations Officer.

Ensign DiThomas holds a bachelors degree in film from Emerson College. He currently works for a
local bank and for an independent film company as a director. He currently resides in Saugus MA
with his wife. In his spare time he enjoys boating.
The operations officer is responsible to the executive officer for the proper conduct of inspections, drills and other military evolutions conducted by the unit.
Specific responsibilities include:

Training and supervising unit parade detachments, the color guard, drill teams, etc.

Training and supervising the quarterdeck and other watches, and for ensuring that smart quarterdeck etiquette is practiced by all hands.

Ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries made in the quarterdeck log, and submission of the log to the commanding officer for approval and signature on a
periodic basis.

Ensuring that uniforms are worn in accordance with NSCC Uniform Regulations and meet high standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
